Rapid development in medicine brings out new ethical challenges and places greater demands on physicians’ decision-making skills in ethically charged situations. The proposed project aims to strengthen moral competence of medical students and their decision-making skills in such situations. We will collect ethically controversial case reports from practicing physicians in the Czech Republic, classify them using the “Four boxes” model and analyse them by our multidisciplinary team. The case reports will be translated in narrative form and employed in medical education as specific educational tools. In summary, the project will strengthen the moral competence of future physicians and we believe will eventually lead to increased respect for patients’ interests and their better quality of life.
